Originality of research
Articles submitted to “Creatio Fantastica” need to display the utmost concern for impeccable academic standards, originality of reasoning, and scrupulous references to professional literature. The Authors are obliged to proffer adequately documented papers referencing all the sources that in any way contributed to their reasoning and analysis.
The editors strongly encourage a critical approach to quoted source materials, notably to comment and reflect upon larger excerpts of the referenced literature that provide methodological and theoretical grounding for the analysis—rather than just recall them in a footnote. Fantasy and science fiction studies still suffer—particularly in Poland—from the consequences of the erstwhile underdevelopment, and, therefore, the published papers should provide the reader with a meticulously commented corpus of the works relevant for studies in the field.
Procedures against ethical misconduct and unethical publishing practices
“Creatio Fantastica” editors support standards of the Committee on Publication Ethics [1], particularly those aimed at early identification of and prevention against:
- plagiarism;
- redundant or duplicated publication;
- fabricated data;
- requests of changes in authorship;
- ghost, guest, or gift authorship;
- undisclosed conflict of interest;
- ethical problems with the manuscript;
- appropriation of the author’s ideas or data by the reviewer(s).
The editorial board reserves rights for documenting all the above-mentioned violations of scientific soundness and high academic and ethical standards. The ethical misconduct, having been diagnosed, will be disclosed and reported, while the published articles that display unequivocal evidence of such misconduct will be permanently retracted from publishing following a relevant explanatory note.
Financial disclosure
The editors have right to demand disclosing financial sources of the research, particularly the financial input of academic and non-academic institutions, organisations, and other entities. In case of rejection, the publication of the article is ceased until the editors are provided with the information in question.
