“Creatio Fantastica” was created in 2005, initially as an e-zine. The founder, Emil Staszewski, continued to oversee the magazine as its editor-in-chief until 2008 when that role was taken over by Sławomir Spasiewicz. From issue 49, published in November 2012, with Ksenia Olkusz as the new editor-in-chief, the then-so-called “SF magazine” was transformed into a quarterly journal with a popular-scientific and artistic focus. The journal continued to develop this format under the new editor-in-chief, Krzysztof M. Maj, who took over the position in August 2014.
On April 16th, 2013 CF was assigned an ISSN number (ISSN 2300-2514), beginning the documentation of its activities in the National Library. In 2014, the editorial office has begun the process—initiated by the stepping down editor-in-chief, Ksenia Olkusz—of scientific evaluation following the guidelines of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education in Poland. In 2015, “CF” was included in the Polish Registry of Periodicals and Journals (Ns Rej. Pr 236/15) as a quarterly “Creatio Fantastica”, and its publication has been taken over by the Facta Ficta Research Centre NGO foundation in Cracow.
Among the writers who contributed to the magazine during the years 2005-2015, both with essays and short stories, were Cezary Zbierzchowski, Michał Cetnarowski, Łukasz Orbitowski, Paweł Majka, Andrzej Sawicki, Witold Jabłoński, Dawid Juraszek, Paweł Ciećwierz, Błażej Jaworowski, and Milena Wójtowicz. Since 2013, when a new literary section of the journal was founded, the number of literary texts published increased significantly, and, since then, among the authors publishing with “CF” we find Jan Żerański, Adrian Zwoliński, Paweł Lach, Katarzyna Ryrych, Maria Dunkel, Paweł Kukliński, and Adam Podlewski.
